Hey everyone,
Clan wars has come and gone. Well now I want to hear what everyone has to say about it. Good, Bad, or ugly. I just ask do not name any names of players or teams. I feel it is got to point out issues with colors is all.
A few things I have are:
I feel the dead zones were poor placed Boundaries not marked
As far as rule issues I had are as follows:
Must go to a dead zone before responding Flags taken go back to the matching color material
But that is all i have for now

Alright - since no one else is willing...
The boundaries weren't marked at all as far as I could tell - the first game, Red started in White's territory (unintentionally) and made things more than a little sticky for a bit there. Throughout the game there was no real system to know where anything started or ended, making it hard to know when you'd taken over a territory. I'll admit I'm not super familiar with the layout of the field in the first place, but I'm guessing more than a few others had issues with this problem too.
As far as the dead zones, it was almost impossible to get there - quite the walk, and a good chance of accidentally getting hit again. Maybe next time have several different zones, with some way to easily find them - a fire pit (something to give off smoke?) or something to make it quicker figuring out where they are period. I did appreciate having a spot on the field where I could safely rest, get my helmet off for a few, and get ready without the worry of accidentally getting shot. Another option would be to have more permanent (well marked) respawn points, instead of trying to get to the dead zone And finding a flag - overall just took away from play time too much.
Another issue I personally had, and more than a few others was the on field chrono check. I more than understand that it's an important method of keeping a check on potential cheaters and the overall safety of the field so I have no issue with the practice in general. There was a point in the 2nd game when I was asked to check my marker - and it came out high according to the ref (295). Everyone that particular ref checked in the immediate area around me came out high as well. I'd been checked by a different ref about 20 min before that as well and come out perfectly fine at that time, so I was pretty surprised. I managed to catch a ride back to camp and I checked on the main chronos - and came in at 235, 255, no where near the field check. There might need to be some type of system to make sure the hand held chronos are staying accurate as it was a huge pain in the butt going back and forth for no reason. In talking to other players after the game I was told that other refs had allowed up to 300 - so there needs to be agreement among the refs and the players what the acceptable speed is.
It's a great field, with plenty of room for everyone and the various strategies we all use, but it still needs some cleaning up. The piles of branches everywhere made it a little hard to really get around quickly without tripping or coming pretty damn close multiple times. Maybe some of the teams could organize something where we go up with a few pick ups and clean things up a little? Could always take the branches and make a community firewood pile for the next game.
I wanted to send out a big thank you to those who provided rides across the field before, during, and after the games - with a big area like that, it was nice getting to save that energy for the game =)
All in all, it was a great day - didn't see or deal with anyone trying to pull anything cheap and everyone I talked to seemed to be having a pretty good time even with the handful of issues we had to deal with. I'm sure it was about winning for some, but for the most part, everyone was just there to have a good time - and mission accomplished!

Oh the game!
To start this off the lack of orginization all the way through out the game day on saturday. Was over all my biggest complaint about the game nobody knew where falgs were at until game on and people barely knew where the territories were at. This started a downward spiril of everything through out the day making the game hard to fallow and play.
The dead zones where just too hard to find and again this made the game flow rough. I did like the enclosed netting it was a very nice feature of the field. The number of dead zones seem to work out after everyone found them and started a flow of respawning. I just wish they were not so hard to get to and better marked so you dont get turned around going to and from.
The only other big thing that I had was inconsistant reffing on the field having refs not know what the exact ruling for a problem of any sort does not help the game if they them selves can not agree on what a call should be. I will commend them for doing everything they did to keep us safe on the field.
Overall the game was great everyone I talked to had fun and enjoied them selves. I know I did thanks to every one who helped out and played great.

- NO HILLS!!!
- Lots of porta-potties and a big plus from "CheckPlus" on reserving one for the women.
- Lots of parking and camping
- Great reffing - "Thx" Devil's Brigade!
- Awesome crowd of paintballers - on and off the field.
- LOTS of prizes!
The Improvements:
- What happened to game on at 9:30? If your Clan isn't ready how do you say it..? "suck to be you". The extra long lunch break didn't help either.
- There were boundaries? Maybe flag the clan boundaries with their color so you know where your at.
- The dead boxes need to have a LOT of orange flagging or spay paint the netting orange. Black netting is really hard to see and extra hard on a big field when your tired.
- Sorry the Irregulators started in the wrong spot - If our base and flag placement locations would have been marked or pre-staged we would have known were to start.

I think over all it was a decent game i did have fun while my marker was in the direction of the enemy but not while i was scratching my head wondering what the heck was going on.
First i think in due respect there were alot of inconsistancies with the reffing staff i thought we were supposed to chrono at 280 like normal and i know of one individual they wouldnt let out until they were at 260 and then another was let on shooting 290-ish. And right before the game i asked one excactly were the dead zone was and one said somewhere over there. Like i said im grateful for the reffing staff they did a awesome job but maybe a little more prep.
Another is what is up with the dead zones i had numerous people asking me where the dead zone was going the opposite direction. They were hard to find and do need to be more readily accessible for teams that had to walk across two territorys to get back to there own before tagging in. And other that tagged in at respawn and walked 20 yards and tagged in at there flags.
As i was aimlessly wandering and wondering if people were out cause they were just walking around without barrel bags and tapping them and then recieving obscene messages that included the fact that they were out. And also in a mask off area polietly asking about every third person to kindly put a barrel bag on.
Also while accomping one of my fellow comrades a dead man walked by us with gun up and barrel bag on which is cool but with nobody around we heard a voice from his general direction that sounded like two road bottom corner. my fellow comrade also thought he heard it and we questioned it but didnt persure the fact that there was a dead man talking on his ear piece.
The field does need work. The nature made speed traps are annoying and dangerous not saying that all of them need to go but the ones that are in running paths are major hazards. It does have alot of potential and i like the idea of a community fire pit that sounds fun.
I do not like either that the clans had to place their flags themselves right before the game. More designated possible semi permanent spots would be awesome then also they can be used for the next year and years after that.
Anyways i had a blast and my gear worked good right until final battle(i was the guy trying to feed my gun with the pod funneld with my hand lol) but go figure. Hope to see everybody soon again and play again.

well for the three hours i got to play i found that the dead zone was ilplaced providing an unfair advantage to teams near to zone ( also live players were constantly around the zone that needs to change at least put your marker down near everyone) and does the producer even read these forums cause theres no point in bitchin amongest ourselves when you can go down to the general and bitch to the guy who runs the thing lol

Cupcake:
Understand that, as a community, there are NO GAMES with out us, said community. Notice that its about 50-50 SK's and others on this thread.
Thus, the suggestions for things for the future are very, very relevant here, wether the producer, ref staff, sponsers or anyone on the backside of the game reads it.
The point being, inundating anyone with in the face complaints or comments is only going to get a lot of words spoken.
We are exchanging ideas here.
To reiterate my original point, WE are what makes these games happen.
Be constructive or shut the (beep) up.

i would have to agree with most of what has already been posted. to clean the game up predetermined, preset flag stations would be a great improvement. I agree that the territories need to be better defined to clear up the confusion of where one territory starts and another ends. as far as the dead boxes go.... By the map i looked like all territories had at least 1 within close proximity to one of their flag stations. whether or not all the dead zones were up is another story. I think the refs did a great job, with the number of players at the field. like everyone else a ref can get disoriented on the field of play. i was told a couple of times "the dead box was somewhere over there". that was the best info i could have gotten, because the direction i thought it was, was about 90 degrees off. maybe some clear paths could be cut in to direct players to dead boxes, and like Checkminus suggested... paint it orange.
all in all i think the game was great, and with only a week to prepare the field, Knightowl did his best. with more time to prep the field, i bet most of us would not have too many complaints.
lets see what borderwars brings

First things first, I had a hell of a time. It seems after a great game of paintball, everything seems to move a little slower over the next few days While it was a wee bit disorienting from time to time, I actually liked how raw the field was on Saturday. I had mild trouble at most maneuvering throughout the day. However, as I found it more comfortable as a medic to do the majority of my running without my marker, I would imagine my experience is not that of most who attended. Truth be told I agree with the criticisms pertaining to flag placement and dead zone placement. I feel like a few more refs would have been appreciated. I also feel, that with a field as large as this, the referees performed a rather daunting task exceptionally well (Thanks a bunch guys!!). My only real complaint: I didn't see any of those guys with that cute pink tape on their arms all day . Oh well, maybe next time

I had a great time and I can't wait to play again. I didn't like the fact the game started so late. I feel like the game was good but disorganized. I think the field needs work. I like the idea of a community gathering to help clean it up and clear out the ankle breakers. Having short legs it was hard for me to get over some of the fallen trees and I got my foot stuck between a stump and a fallen tree. Thankfully I was walking slowly and I didn't hurt myself badly. I had a very hard time finding the dead zone and even knowing where I was. It would have been helpful to have had a map. My suggestion is to have a map be with the release form.

I had an awesome time but i do wish the mass confusion of where is the dead zone and where is my closest flag could be rectified next year. The field had way too many tripping hazards and sharp branches. It also didnt help that the weather decided it couldnt make up its mind if it was spring or winter. so that did cut down a lot of build time. I think it would be better to push clan wars another month into the year but this is my first one i attended so i dont know if that can happen. I know im not the only one who thought the field was huge but i think that was the fun part i hardly shot at the same people twice. I met a lot of new people and now realize the true community of the world of scenario paintball. I hope it only gets better.

Throwing some tidbits out:
First up everyone must know that there was not a whole heck of a lot of time for set up. As everyone can shiver and recall the long winter we had which made the field hard to access before the game. The producer did do his best to try while working two jobs.
Clan Wars though was never about solid borders just 5 flags and in every scenerio game it is up to your general or XO to get info and pass it on. We did know our location our closest respawns and flag positions after we set them. Most of this is logistical issues within clans. Maps were made available at the General Store outlining clan areas and dead zones.
Chrono issue was discovered with a stationary chrono at the chrono station not properly calibrated and was fixed quickly after it was found out.
I agree that players are responsible to get going and get out to their places and be ready, but what fun is that for those who are new and those with malfunctions and such, like none of us have been in that situation before! Even for those who are ready what fun would it be taking an unguarded flag?
Lets also keep in mind that this field is new and this is only the second game played on it. I'm usually one of the first to hike all over and get to know every inch, but yet there are still areas I'm fuzzy on..... and I'm not talking about Fuzz! Things will get cleaned up and more construction done as what is done at all fields.
I'm just saying it's ok to bitch, but please research first. Suprisingly I haven't heard a word about $10 all day air and the long wait for it. That was my only complaint, which was set to rest a bit after a discussion. The air trailer had to come from Lewiston, ID. With higher gas prices and further distance than previous games the price had to be raised. Although I would suggest that a third or fourth person was there to assist, maybe an experienced ref on the trailer to fill.
It was a great game and given the knowledge of certian hang ups that couldn't be avoided, it went smoothly. There is already plans to improve; solid flag stands painted to color, checking calibration of stand alone chronos, getting the rest of the dead zones put up, and simply by building and playing the ankle breakers will dissapear. If you thought that this was a good intro into Scenerio just wait for the other games!
